The Jigawa State Hisbah Corps has arrested eight men over alleged same-sex sexual acts involving a 22-year-old resident of Kazaure Local Government Area.

The arrests followed a complaint by the young man, who alleged that nine individuals had engaged in sexual acts with him on different occasions.

The Deputy Commander-General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Corps, Dr Hussain Yusuf Baban, confirmed the development.

According to the corps, the complainant, a resident of the Kanti area of Kazaure town, reported that he later tested positive for HIV, which he associated with the alleged encounters.

He subsequently petitioned the Hisbah authorities, requesting an investigation into the matter and justice over what he described as actions that had adversely affected his life.

Following the complaint, Hisbah operatives commenced an investigation and began efforts to locate the nine individuals identified by the complainant.

Eight of the suspects have so far been arrested, while operatives are continuing efforts to locate the ninth suspect.

The Hisbah authorities said preliminary investigations indicated that the arrested suspects made statements in which they allegedly admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the complainant.

The corps added that information and other evidence gathered during the investigation had been compiled and would be presented before a court.

Baban urged parents to pay closer attention to the upbringing of their children and monitor the people with whom they associate.

He also called on members of the public to fear God and remain conscious of the consequences of their actions.

The Deputy Commander-General commended the Jigawa State Government for its continued support and cooperation with the Hisbah Corps in carrying out its responsibilities.
