President Adama Barrow of The Gambia has continued in his drive to get the best hands available to serve in his second term in office as he settles down, the recent appointment includes the announcement of Former Speaker of the Gambia National Assembly, Dr. Mrs. Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay as Gambia’s New Ambassador to South Africa. As part of her coverage of duties, she would oversee the neighbouring Southern African nations as well making her portfolio a bit bigger.

Knowing her, she would bring in her work ethics and experience in serving her country both in government and outside of the government to bear on her new appointment.  Speaking exclusively to the Voice publication in Banjul o her arrival from Mauritania, she quickly clarify the rumours being spread on social media that she has rejected her appointment as Ambassador to South Africa. “Far from it my Editor, I am very honoured and privileged among many qualified Gambians to have been chosen by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of The Gambia, President Adama Barrow to represent him and the government of the Gambia as well as the good people of the Gambia to Southern sphere of Africa. I would do my assignment with all the energy left me not to disappoint my President and the government of the Gambia for the trust placed in me”

According to her, she was out of the country on her personal activities when her appointment was announced, I made a quick return to the country and gladly accepted my appointment. Whatever else is published are rumours and not from me.

The Ambassador designate, FJC says her priority now is to work for the President as his representative and my country, I want to leave a legacy behind there after my tenure.

It it should be on record that South Africa is a strategic partner in terms of business and investment and she intends to drive that as soon as she resume office in South Africa.
