Tyson Fury has put an end to weeks of speculation, confirming that his blockbuster heavyweight clash against British-Nigerian star Anthony Joshua will go down at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Gypsy King broke the news via Instagram, sharing a promotional poster of both fighters superimposed on the NYC skyline. Notably, the post carried no official date.

“What a place NYC, and what a venue MSG, and what a fight Fury vs AJ, the land of opportunity,” Fury captioned the image, adding excitedly that fans should prepare for an unforgettable weekend in the city.

Joshua’s name was absent from the tag list, and as of press time, neither Joshua himself nor his promotional outfit, Matchroom Boxing, had issued any official confirmation.

Industry sources suggest the bout is penciled in for November, with November 20 emerging as the likely date, following both boxers putting pen to paper with Turki Alalshikh, head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority.

Originally, Joshua’s camp had insisted the fight stay on British soil. That changed when Netflix and Alalshikh pushed for an American staging, prompting promoter Eddie Hearn to reopen discussions around relocating the bout stateside.

Hearn acknowledged that while Joshua’s team still favors keeping the fight in the UK, they recognize compromise is necessary.

He pointed to unresolved tax concerns that could significantly cut into Joshua’s earnings if the fight happens in the US, though he expressed hope this could still be sorted out. A final decision, he noted, was expected within the week.

Some fans have pushed back online, questioning why a matchup between two British fighters wouldn’t instead be hosted at a venue like Wembley.
