Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has brought his spell with Cypriot club AC Omonia to an emotional close, thanking the club’s supporters for their backing throughout his time with the team.

The Nigerian shot-stopper first moved to Omonia in July 2019, initially arriving from Deportivo La Coruña on a loan agreement. His relationship with the club later became permanent when he returned in 2021.

During his time at Omonia, Uzoho established himself as an important figure between the posts. He made 77 appearances in all competitions, recording 29 clean sheets while conceding 84 goals.

The goalkeeper, who was part of Nigeria’s victorious squad at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, reflected on his years with the Cypriot side as he prepared to move on.

In a message shared with fans, Uzoho expressed gratitude for the affection and support he received from the Omonia faithful from his arrival until his departure.

He described his time wearing the club’s colours as a memorable journey and said representing Omonia had been a privilege.

Uzoho also acknowledged the difficulty of leaving, indicating that the decision was beyond his control. Despite the separation, he made it clear that his affection for the club would remain.

The 27-year-old’s departure now brings an end to a lengthy association with Omonia, as the Nigerian international looks ahead to the next stage of his professional career.
