Monaco climbed to the summit of Ligue 1 on Friday night after stunning Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 at the Parc des Princes, leaving the European champions still searching for their first league win of the season.

Marquinhos had put the hosts ahead just after the half-hour mark, converting a low ball from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and for a while PSG looked set to end their winless run in front of their own supporters for the first time this campaign.

The visitors had other ideas. Nazinho levelled things up early in the second half, nodding home from a Jordan Teze cross, before Stanis Idumbo turned the game on its head just after the hour, slotting past Matvey Safonov to hand Monaco all three points.

Late introductions Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Torres could not rescue Luis Enrique’s side, with Torres seeing a goal chalked off for offside and Dembele denied by a fine save from Lukas Hradecky in stoppage time.

The result means PSG have picked up only two points from their opening three fixtures, already seven adrift of Monaco who have won all three of their matches so far.

It comes at an unsettled time for the principality club, who saw a proposed sale of Folarin Balogun to Everton and a deal to offload Lamine Camara to Chelsea both collapse on deadline day.
