CAF Confederation Cup: Nations FC travel to Mali for FC Diarra preliminary clash
Ghanaian FA Cup holders Nations FC have travelled to Mali ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup first-round qualifying tie against FC Diarra.
The Abrankese-based club will face the Malian side in the first leg on Saturday, 5 September, with kick-off scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
The return leg will take place in Ghana on Sunday, 13 September, with the match due to start at 15:00 GMT.
Nations FC earned their place in the Confederation Cup after winning the 2025-26 MTN FA Cup, defeating Dreams FC in the final.
As part of their preparations for their first taste of continental football, Nations FC faced Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC in the Champion of Champions at TNA Park.
They suffered defeat in that encounter but will now turn their attention to their continental campaign, with a positive result in Mali their immediate objective.
Nations FC will be hoping to use their FA Cup success as a springboard as they seek to advance beyond the opening qualifying round in their debut CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
If they overcome FC Diarra, Nations FC will face either Niger’s AS Zam or Burkina Faso’s ASKO de Kara in the second preliminary round.
The Ghanaian side will therefore be looking to establish a strong position in the first leg before the return fixture as they attempt to progress deeper into the competition.
