Aston Villa have completed the signing of Senegalese winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain in a move reportedly worth £47 million, marking another significant addition to Unai Emery’s rebuilding project at Villa Park.

The 18-year-old made 31 appearances across all competitions for the French giants last term, contributing to a campaign that saw PSG lift both the Champions League and the Ligue 1 crown.

His talent was also on display on the international stage, where he featured four times for Senegal at the recent World Cup and etched his name into history by becoming the youngest African to find the net at a men’s World Cup, doing so against France.

Since making his senior PSG debut at just 16, Mbaye has gone on to earn 15 caps for the Senegalese national team, cementing his reputation as one of the continent’s most promising young talents

In a statement confirming the deal, Villa described him as an exciting prospect who announced himself to the world with his World Cup heroics, and confirmed the move was completed on a permanent basis.

The arrival of Mbaye continues what has been an eventful summer of transition for Villa, who parted ways with several key figures, including Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Martinez, and Youri Tielemans, following their Europa League triumph that ended a three-decade wait for silverware.

In their place, Emery has assembled a fresh core featuring Alejandro Garnacho, Nicolas Jackson, Joao Gomes, and now Mbaye, as the Spanish coach looks to build on last season’s success with a squad overhaul designed for the club’s next chapter.
