Ghana’s Theophilus Nii Kpakpo Allotey has promised to “go all out” when he faces Argentina’s Facundo David Garcia in a WBA super flyweight title eliminator at the Osagyefo Fight Night on 19 September.

The pair traded words during a public face-off at Timber Market in Jamestown ahead of the event, which will take place at the Bukom Boxing Arena and is being promoted by Obra Sports.

Allotey, also known as “Theo Lopez”, believes victory would move him within touching distance of a world title shot.

“It is going to be a war in the ring,” he said.

“Unless my opponent, who is taller, kills me, because I am going all out. I know how to handle him.”

The bout headlines a card featuring several Ghanaian boxers looking to make statements in front of their home fans.

Olympic bronze medallist Samuel Takyi returns to action against Botswana’s Bagwasi and said he is determined to revive his professional career after setbacks caused by what he described as a poor management contract.

The 2020 Olympic medallist revealed he has signed with Legacy Rise Sports and promised supporters a transformed fighter.

“It is a new chapter in my life, and fans will see the new and different Takyi who is explosive and smashing,” he said.

The event also features a super bantamweight grudge match between Michael Decardi Nelson and Jerry Klutei Robertson, while heavyweight Joseph “Junior Bazooka” Antwi faces experienced Felix “Changes” Mankattah.

Soldier-boxer Moro Kanla meets Nigerien fighter Abdoul Baki Adamou, who was born and raised in Accra, and Senegal’s Muhammed Fall makes his professional debut against Richmond Amarkwei.

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Fianekpo takes on Alex, while rising Sea View Boxing Gym prospect Gideon Nortey faces Nigeria’s Yusuf Ayinde Ogunbunmi in an international super lightweight contest.

Chorkor fighter Isaac “Awuley Mayweather” Aryee also features on the bill.

Matchmaker Danny Donkor described the card as a contender for “promotion of the year”.

Theo Allotey’s manager, Sarah Lotus Asare, said the main event represented a crucial opportunity that could propel the Ghanaian into world title contention.

She added that the programme will begin at 19:00 GMT with exhibition bouts involving juvenile and amateur boxers before the professional contests.

Asare, an executive member of the Ghana Boxing Federation, also said part of the gate proceeds would support amateur boxing development in Ghana.

“Obra Sports has come to give opportunities and platforms for Ghana sports, not only boxing,” she said.
