Samuel Chukwueze continued his impressive start to the Serie A season by laying on yet another assist as AC Milan were held to a 1-1 draw away at Juventus in a hard fought contest on Sunday.

The Nigerian international, introduced from the bench in the second half, showed his growing influence at his new club by teeing up Alphadjo Cisse to fire Milan into the lead.

However, Juventus refused to give up, and their persistence paid off deep into added time when Federico Gatti rose highest to head home from a Teun Koopmeiners free kick delivery, denying Milan all three points and levelling proceedings at 1-1.

It marked the second consecutive league assist for Chukwueze, following his earlier contribution in Milan’s away victory over Torino, further underlining how quickly he has settled into head coach Ruben Amorim’s setup after arriving back from his loan spell at Fulham.

The opening period had offered little in terms of clear cut chances, with Juventus enjoying the better spells of pressure while Milan remained disciplined defensively, content to look for opportunities on the break under their new manager.

The result leaves both Serie A giants unbeaten after three matchdays, with Milan and Juventus level on seven points apiece, sitting just two points adrift of early pacesetters Roma and Inter.

For Chukwueze, the performance adds to growing evidence that Amorim’s decision to deploy him as a right wing-back is bringing the best out of his pace, dribbling ability, and direct running, with his manager publicly praising the improvements in his defensive contribution as well.
