Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Ahmed Ibrahim, has described his reassignment from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs as a decision guided by divine intervention.

The minister was transferred to the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial reshuffle announced on August 7, 2026.

Speaking at a handing-over ceremony for his successor, Mahama Ayariga, on Tuesday, September 1, Ahmed Ibrahim said events surrounding his reassignment had strengthened his belief that the move was part of God’s plan.

He recalled that he was preaching at the Global Evangelical Church on August 7 when he received news of the reshuffle.

According to him, he was handed a Bible while on the pulpit, an occurrence he said had taken on greater significance following the presence of representatives of the Christian Council at the handing-over ceremony.

Ahmed Ibrahim said the coincidence had further reinforced his conviction that there was divine purpose behind his reassignment.

“I am happy and I know the hand of God is in my reshuffle. As I stated, on the 7th of August, I was on the Global Evangelical Church pulpit when the news came that I had been reshuffled, and I was given a Bible,” he said.

He expressed gratitude for what he considered a series of significant events surrounding his departure from the ministry, saying they had deepened his belief that the reshuffle was guided by a higher purpose.

Ahmed Ibrahim has since taken charge of the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry, while Mahama Ayariga has assumed responsibility for the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministry.
