Former Bayelsa State governor and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has met with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in Abuja.

The meeting, held on Thursday, is part of ongoing consultations among the party’s leadership as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

Dickson disclosed the development in a post on his X handle, saying the meeting was aimed at advancing discussions on matters affecting both the party and the country.

According to him, the meeting also focused on concluding key decisions ahead of the planned unveiling of the NDC’s Campaign Council for the 2027 elections.

The former governor said he met with Obi and Kwankwaso alongside the party’s National Chairman and other senior leaders.

“Today, I met with our party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, and the running mate, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alongside the National Chairman and other party leaders,” Dickson stated.

He explained that Thursday’s engagement followed another meeting held two days earlier, indicating that the party’s leadership was accelerating consultations ahead of the commencement of its 2027 campaign structure.

“We met two days ago, and we met again today to further deliberate and finalise decisions, particularly as we prepare for the unveiling of our party’s Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he added.

The renewed consultations come as political parties and emerging alliances intensify preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.

Dickson also appealed to NDC stakeholders, including aspirants and party members, to put aside internal differences and work towards a coordinated campaign for candidates contesting various positions.

“At this critical stage, I call on all stakeholders, aspirants and members of our great Party to unite, close ranks and work collectively for the success of our candidates at all levels, from top to bottom,” he said.
