The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year of 27 corps members in Osun State for violating provisions of the scheme’s regulations.

This was just as the NYSC also disclosed that 31 corps members absconded from their Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs) during the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II service year.

The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Ekene Ita Kubiangha, disclosed this on Thursday during the low-key passing-out parade for corps members who successfully completed the service year in the state.

Kubiangha congratulated the outgoing corps members, urging them to apply the knowledge, skills and experiences acquired during their national service to their personal and professional development.

He particularly encouraged them to take advantage of the entrepreneurial skills acquired through the NYSC’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, stressing that such skills could help young Nigerians navigate prevailing economic challenges.

According to him, the completion of the mandatory service should not be viewed as the end of their contribution to society but as the beginning of greater responsibilities and opportunities.

“The end of the service year should mark the beginning of greater opportunities, responsibilities and service to humanity,” he said.

The coordinator also charged the corps members to remain disciplined, responsible and committed to making meaningful contributions to their communities.

As part of activities marking the passing-out exercise, Kubiangha conducted a monitoring visit to Boripe and Ifelodun Local Government Areas in the Ikirun Zone.

During the exercise, he inspected the corps lodge and assessed the welfare and safety conditions of corps members in the area.

He further urged the outgoing corps members to sustain the positive values acquired during their service year, maintain a strong spiritual life and pursue purposeful and impactful lives as they transition into the next phase of their careers.

The NYSC coordinator said the experiences gained during the service year should serve as a foundation for the corps members to build productive careers and contribute positively to national development.
