Ghana forward Mohammed Fuseini is set to join English Championship side Birmingham City on loan from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise.

The 24-year-old is expected to undergo a medical after the two clubs agreed a season-long deal, which includes an option for Birmingham to make the transfer permanent next year.

Fuseini arrives after playing a key role in Union Saint-Gilloise’s remarkable domestic success last season, helping the Brussels club secure a historic Belgian league and cup double.

He has also made an impressive start to the new campaign, registering two assists in the Belgian Pro League and scoring in the UEFA Champions League.

His omission from Union’s 3-0 victory over Anderlecht on Sunday further fuelled expectations that the move is close to being completed.

Fuseini’s name made headlines last month after footage of him being attacked by masked robbers circulated widely on social media.

The Ghanaian joined Union Saint-Gilloise in 2024 from Austrian side Sturm Graz, following a successful loan spell with Danish club Randers FC.

He quickly established himself as an important member of the squad, contributing to the club’s first Belgian Pro League title in 90 years before helping them lift the Belgian Cup.

Fuseini also featured in the Champions League during his time in Brussels and leaves the club after scoring 15 goals and contributing to three major trophy-winning campaigns.
