Nigeria’s D’Tigress ended their group-stage campaign at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup with a disappointing 111–56 loss to France.

The result marked another difficult outing for the African champions, who were unable to secure a victory in any of their three group matches.

Their campaign had already suffered setbacks against South Korea and Hungary, leaving them with no chance of progressing before facing France.

France quickly established its authority in the contest, producing a dominant first quarter to take a commanding 31–13 lead.

Nigeria struggled to find an answer to the French attack and went into the halftime break trailing 65–26.

The gap continued to grow after the restart as France maintained its control. The European side added another 30 points in the third quarter, while D’Tigress managed only 13, leaving the Nigerians with an almost impossible deficit heading into the final period.

Although Nigeria improved slightly in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 points, France remained firmly in control and comfortably completed the victory.

The defeat brings an end to D’Tigress’ group-stage journey at the tournament. Despite their disappointing results, the team will be expected to reflect on the experience and identify areas for improvement as they prepare for future international competitions.

For Nigeria, the focus will now shift toward rebuilding and returning stronger after a challenging World Cup campaign.
