The United States and Ghana continue to build stronger economic connections at the regional level.

On March 11, 2026, Chargé d’Affaires Rolf Olson welcomed Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene to the U.S. Embassy in Accra for an important discussion.

The meeting centered on deepening commercial opportunities between the United States and the Ashanti Region. Both sides explored ways to expand trade and investment that would support shared prosperity for businesses and communities in Ghana and beyond. The Ashanti Region stands out as a key economic hub, known for its leading role in gold production, cocoa cultivation, and growing manufacturing activities.

Chargé d’Affaires Olson and Minister Amoakohene expressed optimism about future collaboration. The embassy highlighted plans to strengthen partnerships not only in Ashanti but across all sixteen regions of Ghana. This visit reflects ongoing U.S. efforts to boost private sector engagement in areas such as agriculture, trade, and infrastructure.

Dr. Amoakohene, who assumed office in early 2025 following his nomination by President John Dramani Mahama, brings fresh energy to regional development initiatives. The warm exchange signals continued momentum in U.S.-Ghana relations, with both nations looking ahead to mutual growth and opportunity.
