Veteran Ghanaian actress, Irene Opare, has expressed her strong admiration for dancehall star Shatta Wale, describing him as one of her favourite musicians.

Speaking in an interview, the movie legend said although acting is her passion, music holds a special place in her heart.

“I love doing movies, but I love music. I really love music. Movie is my passion. Fine, I love doing it, but music is my thing. On a regular day, if you find me at home, you see me dancing, playing music and dancing,” she disclosed.

When asked about her favourite artiste, she mentioned Shatta Wale.

“Shatta for life is our life. Shatta. That’s my favourite,” she said.

According to her, Shatta Wale possesses a rare quality that sets him apart from many musicians and even politicians.

“Shatta is a real guy. Shatta has something that most musicians don’t have. Most personalities don’t have. Even politicians, a lot of personalities don’t have something that Shatta has, which is charisma,” she stated.

Comparing him to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, she added: “Shatta is like Rawlings for me. They have charisma. If you don’t like Shatta, if you hate Shatta, Shatta has insulted your mother, your father, and you hear that Shatta is coming down the road, you will run to embrace him. That is the charisma I’m talking about.”

She concluded by reaffirming her support, saying: “Shatta for life is our life.”
