In a powerful display of community solidarity and humanitarian service, Safe Paradise Empowerment Global Initiative Inc (SPEGI) partnered with Ire Jam Radio to organize a large-scale community outreach and food drive in the Eastchester neighborhood of the Bronx, New York.

The event, which drew hundreds of families from underserved communities across the borough, was designed to provide direct relief to households grappling with food insecurity and economic hardship. Volunteers were on ground early to facilitate distribution, ensure orderliness, and extend a hand of compassion to every resident who walked in.

Described as “The Moving Intelligence in Humanitarianism,” SPEGI is a dynamic global humanitarian organization at the forefront of efforts to uplift vulnerable populations through sustainable development, education, and healthcare interventions.

According to Chief Tenny Oseaga, President/CEO of Safe Paradise Empowerment Global Initiative Inc., the outreach was born out of a deep commitment to feed families and restore dignity in underserved communities.

“This outreach was designed to feed the people, especially families in underserved communities. It was a great food drive event in the Eastchester neighborhood in the Bronx, New York. We gave out both raw and cooked food items to people as well,” Chief Oseaga said.

“Though the food items were donated by individuals and companies, we prepared and distributed everything ourselves with the support of our dedicated volunteers who facilitated the process,” he added.

Residents trooped out in large numbers to receive assorted food items, including cooked meals, raw foodstuffs, groceries, and other essential supplies. For many families, the intervention came as a timely relief amid rising living costs in New York City.

The collaboration with Ire Jam Radio, a leading Caribbean and African diaspora platform known for its community-centered programming, amplified the reach and impact of the event. The station mobilized listeners, community leaders, and volunteers, turning the outreach into a true festival of giving and unity.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described an atmosphere filled with gratitude, music, and shared humanity. Volunteers, some drawn from SPEGI’s global network, worked tirelessly – packing, cooking, carrying, and distributing packages while also offering words of encouragement to beneficiaries.

The Bronx outreach is in line with SPEGI’s broader mission and vision.

Community stakeholders in Eastchester praised the initiative, noting that the Bronx remains one of New York City’s most diverse but economically challenged boroughs, where community-led food drives play a critical role in supporting families.

For Chief Oseaga and his team, the Bronx event is only a beginning. SPEGI plans to replicate similar outreaches across other boroughs in New York and other states, continuing to partner with diaspora media like Ire Jam Radio, local businesses, and individual donors who share its vision of inclusive empowerment.
