Real Madrid secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Schalke 04 in their pre-season friendly on Sunday, with Kylian Mbappé among the goalscorers.

Mbappé opened the scoring in the sixth minute, giving Real Madrid an early advantage. The Spanish side maintained control of the contest and doubled their lead before half-time through Dean Huijsen, who finished after receiving an assist from Arda Güler.

Schalke attempted to respond after the interval but struggled to break down Real Madrid’s defence.

The visitors remained composed and eventually added a third goal in the 57th minute, with Carlos Espí finding the net following a pass from Álvaro Carreras.

Real Madrid dominated possession with 56 per cent of the ball and completed 501 passes at an impressive 89 per cent accuracy.

They also registered 12 shots, with seven on target, while Schalke managed 14 attempts but only three were directed at goal.

The match also featured several substitutions as both teams used the friendly to assess their squads ahead of the new season.

Real Madrid made a number of changes during the second half, including the introductions of Jude Bellingham, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and other first-team players.

Despite Schalke having more tackles and total shots, Real Madrid’s efficiency in possession and finishing proved decisive.

The result provides a positive boost for Real Madrid as they continue their preparations, while Schalke will look to improve their performance before competitive action begins.
