President Mahama faces intense scrutiny as he pivots to civil society for policy salvation in Ghana

Following a high-stakes standoff with labor unions, President John Dramani Mahama is now turning to civil society organizations to help steer the national agenda. This strategic shift was confirmed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of State for Government Communications, who revealed that the administration is broadening its circle of advisors to include a wider range of non-governmental voices.
The decision comes on the heels of a critical meeting between the President and Organized Labour on Tuesday, which was convened to address the fallout from a recent national strike. With those discussions concluded, the government is moving to integrate independent perspectives from civil society into the heart of its decision-making process.
Speaking on the program Face to Face, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu explained that the objective is to harness diverse ideas to refine policy implementation. By engaging these groups, the administration hopes to find more effective solutions to the country’s current challenges and ensure that governance is informed by experts outside the immediate political sphere. This move marks a significant effort to stabilize the policy landscape and foster a more inclusive approach to tackling Ghana’s pressing economic and social issues.
