Nigerian Comedy King AY Honoured with African Entertainment Award Following Grand Ceremony

LAGOS, NIGERIA — Nigerian comedy and entertainment impresario, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has been bestowed with the prestigious African Entertainment Award as part of the 2025 honours from the Europe-based The Voice News Magazine, organizers of The Voice Achievers Award.
The 14th edition of The Voice Achievers Award 2025 main ceremony, themed “Debunking Notions – Reshaping Mindsets,” took place as a two-part event on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
Post-Ceremony Presentation for AY
While the main award gala and dinner was held on the 28th, the presentation of the African Entertainment Award to AY took place separately on Sunday, November 30th, at his residence, in the presence of his family and close friends, as you mentioned. This suggests a special arrangement was made for the popular entertainer to receive his accolade following the conclusion of the grand event.

The African Entertainment Award recognizes AY’s exceptional and extensive contributions to the African entertainment landscape, both as a stand-up comedian and a prolific filmmaker who has significantly elevated the quality and global reach of Nigerian cinema.
The official ceremony was a night of glamour and recognition, honoring trailblazers impacting business, arts, and society across the continent, with AY being one of the distinguished awardees celebrated for his impact on the Arts category.
