José Mourinho has officially returned to Real Madrid, taking charge of the Spanish giants once again after more than a decade away from the club.

The Portuguese manager was unveiled on Tuesday at Real Madrid’s training complex, Ciudad Real Madrid, in a ceremony attended by club president Florentino Pérez and honorary president José Martínez Pirri. Mourinho has agreed to a three-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2029.

His appointment marks the beginning of a second chapter with the club, having previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.

During his first tenure, Mourinho won major domestic honours and helped the team challenge strongly in European competition.

Speaking after his presentation, the 63-year-old described his return as a special responsibility rather than simply another coaching job.

He stressed the importance of discipline, hard work and ambition, while promising to create an environment where players and staff understand the importance of representing Real Madrid.

Mourinho also expressed his strong connection with the club’s supporters, insisting that he has continued to consider himself a Madridista since leaving the Spanish capital.

The manager now faces the immediate challenge of preparing his squad for the new LaLiga campaign. Real Madrid are scheduled to begin their league season against Espanyol on Saturday.

Mourinho’s return has already generated significant discussion among football supporters, with opinions divided over whether his experience and demanding leadership style can restore the club to domestic and European dominance.
