GRA AI platform rakes in GH¢1bn customs revenue in one month – Nana Oye

MON, 07 SEP 2026

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has collected GH¢1 billion in customs revenue in a single month through its artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled trade valuation platform, the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Finance and Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has said.

She noted that the development forms part of the government’s broader efforts to use technology to improve efficiency and revenue mobilisation in the public sector.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the first international edition of HR Café 2026 in Accra on Monday, September 7, Oye Bampoe Addo said the adoption of AI and other digital tools is helping government institutions reduce administrative bottlenecks while improving service delivery and accountability.

“Today, the passport office of Ghana is fully digitalized. Passport applicants are recording rapid, convenient services. We also have digitalization by Ghana’s Revenue Authority. They have an AI trade valuation platform that collected 1 billion cedis revenue in one single month, pushing customs revenue to record levels,” Nana Oye said.

Nana Oye said the government is increasingly deploying technology to transform public sector operations as part of its broader reform agenda.

According to her, the government is also developing a sovereign virtual meeting platform to facilitate secure executive-level meetings without requiring officials to travel.

She said the platform would enable the Chief of Staff’s office to hold virtual meetings with more than 200 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

Nana Oye further disclosed that the government is developing social media and digital presence governance guidelines for government institutions and appointees to establish clear standards for official conduct online.
