President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound sorrow and extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Tanzania following the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan. In an official message of sympathy, the Nigerian leader conveyed deep solidarity with President Samia and the Tanzanian nation during this period of significant grief and national mourning.

In his tribute, President Tinubu described the late Hafidh Ameir Hassan as an exemplary and devoted lifelong companion who served as a pillar of strength for President Samia. He emphasized that for nearly five decades, the deceased stood quietly and steadfastly by her side, anchoring their family and providing unwavering support through various demanding chapters of her public service and leadership journey in Tanzania.

“I know what this loss means to President Samia and her family. She has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and the family one of its pillars,” Tinubu said.

He added that a companionship spanning almost five decades becomes an integral part of a person’s life, making its loss particularly painful.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, and on behalf of my family, I extend my deepest condolences to President Samia, her children, the Hassan family and the people of Tanzania,” he said.

Tinubu also stressed the importance of African solidarity during moments of grief, saying Nigeria mourned with Tanzania and stood with President Samia and her family.

“At moments such as this, the bonds that unite us as Africans matter even more. Nigeria mourns with Tanzania and stands with President Samia and her family in this hour of grief,” he said.

The President prayed for the eternal repose of Hafidh Ameir Hassan and asked Allah to comfort his family and grant President Samia and her children the strength to bear the loss.
