Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has hinted that the club could make further surprise additions to their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors are stepping up preparations for the new campaign as Tinkler works to reshape the squad following a disappointing season.

Kotoko have already released several players as part of their restructuring process, while a number of new faces have arrived at the club.

Tinkler, who was appointed as the club’s new head coach ahead of the new season, says the club has largely completed its recruitment but suggested that further additions could still be made.

“We have now completed the signings that we feel we need to strengthen the squad,” he said.

“What you should expect is obviously there is going to be a number of changes in terms of the squad.

“We’ve moved a number of players out that we just felt…So [there are] a lot of new faces, a lot of foreign-based players that come with a lot of experience as well, which I think is all very important.

“Well, there are one or two surprises still coming,” Tinkler added.

Tinkler’s comments are likely to increase anticipation among Kotoko supporters, with the club looking to build a stronger team capable of challenging for honours in the upcoming campaign.

The Kumasi-based side will get an opportunity to assess their progress when they face rivals Hearts of Oak in the 2026 Democracy Cup.

The match will serve as an important test for Tinkler and his players before the start of the new Ghana Premier League season.

Kotoko will then begin their 2026/27 league campaign away from home against newly promoted Debibi United.
