Tanzania confirm Ghana friendly after AFCON qualifier double-header
Tanzania have confirmed they will face Ghana in an international friendly during the September international window, days after both countries begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaigns.
The Taifa Stars announced the match as part of an extended international break that will include the opening round of AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana will launch their qualification campaign against Côte d’Ivoire before hosting Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Carlos Queiroz’s side then expected to take on Tanzania in a friendly.
Tanzania, who will co-host the 2027 AFCON alongside Kenya and Uganda, will first face Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar in their qualifying fixtures.
The Taifa Stars have already named their squad for the September matches, with BK Häcken’s Sabri Kondo returning to the team and Bernard Kamungo also included.
The Ghana Football Association recently confirmed the continuation of Queiroz as Black Stars head coach after he guided the team to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Portuguese is expected to announce his squad for the September fixtures in the coming weeks.
Ghana are also believed to be planning another international friendly against Egypt later this month as part of their preparations.
