The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has described the massive turnout of voters in his hometown of Ikire as clear evidence that residents refused to be intimidated during Saturday’s governorship election. Speaking after casting his ballot, Oyebamiji commended the resilience and enthusiasm of the electorate who arrived early at their polling centers. He noted that the impressive crowd demonstrated the people’s unwavering commitment to exercising their democratic rights and shaping the future of the state, despite any pre-election fears or security concerns.

The APC flagbearer shared these remarks immediately after performing his civic duty at the Open Space Gantry, Sawmill polling center, located at Ward 009, Polling Unit 011, in Ikire, within the Irewole Local Government Area. He expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the voting process at his unit and praised the orderly behavior of the constituents. Oyebamiji emphasized that the smooth operation and high engagement seen in Ikire reflected a strong collective desire for a credible and transparent electoral process across Osun State.

Speaking shortly after voting, the APC candidate commended the presence of voters, electoral officials and security personnel at the polling unit, saying the development indicated that the exercise was progressing smoothly.

“INEC are here, the voters are here, security operatives are here; I want to commend the large turnout of voters in Ikire. It shows that people are not intimidated, and generally, things are going on fine across the state,” he said.

Oyebamiji, however, urged security agencies to remain proactive amid concerns about possible violence in Ikire later in the day.

“I want to admonish the police and other security operatives to be proactive to ensure security for our people and all the voters, and I believe the election would be credible,” he said.

Reacting to reports of a politician allegedly arrested with illegal election materials, APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji stated that he expects law enforcement to handle the situation with full transparency. He emphasized that the police must do their job thoroughly and hold anyone undermining the electoral process accountable. Oyebamiji stressed that maintaining the integrity of the ballot is vital for a fair election and expressed trust that security agencies would enforce the law without bias.

In addition to addressing security concerns, the APC flagbearer expressed strong optimism about his performance at the polls, declaring absolute confidence in his ultimate victory. He noted that the support witnessed across the state reinforces his belief that he will emerge triumphant at the end of the day. Oyebamiji concluded by urging his supporters to remain calm, orderly, and vigilant as the collation process begins.
