NPP must integrate unsuccessful regional aspirants into working teams – Kennedy Nyarko
The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to constitute Regional Working Teams that will include unsuccessful aspirants from the party’s just-ended regional executive elections.
He said the move would help the party harness the experience and networks of all aspirants for effective grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The lawmaker made the proposal in a social media post on Monday, August 17, two days after the NPP held its regional executive elections across the country.
“The Party must consider constituting Regional Working Teams and blend them with all the unsuccessful aspirants in the just ended Regional Elections for effective grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2028 General Elections,” he wrote.
The proposal comes as the NPP seeks to rebuild its structures and strengthen its grassroots base following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
The regional elections formed part of a broader reorganisation exercise that began with the party’s polling station-level elections and subsequently moved through the electoral area and constituency levels.
On his part, NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged unsuccessful aspirants to support the newly elected executives and help rebuild the party ahead of 2028.
He has described unity as critical to the party’s efforts to regain political power.
