Enugu Nigeria: Sunday, August 16, 2026: We at International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (InterSociety) are in possession of field statistics from several sources indicating that no fewer than 92 Eastern Christian travellers, mostly from Igbo Land South-East and South-South, traveling to South-West particularly Lagos State and North-Central particularly Abuja; are found to have been abducted in two days of Sunday, August 9 and Thursday, August 13, 2026. The attacks are also found to have taken place in at least seven separate incidents that took place in three States of Ore in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, Otukpo in Benue State and Okene/Ofu in Kogi State in North-Central Nigeria. All the attacks, according to local residents, eyewitnesses and survivors, were carried out by Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and their allied Jihadist Fulani Bandits from their hideouts in nearby forests and bushes.

60 Abducted In One Day Of Sunday, August 9: The attacks saw at least 60 Igbo Land dominated Christian travellers abducted on Sunday, August 9, 2026 alone, including 20 abducted along Auchi-Okene Federal Expressway in Kogi State; involving Sharon 14-Seater bus conveying passengers from (Igbo) Delta to Abuja and Toyota Sienna car conveying passengers from Abuja to Delta State. According to security sources, the Sharon Bus with registration number Kogi ERE 138 AE was conveying about 11 passengers, out of which seven were abducted and four escaped while the Sienna car with registration number BB 362 MKA was carrying nine passengers with six abducted and five escaped. Estimated other 40 Igbo Land dominated Eastern Christian travelers are also found to have been abducted by Jihadist Fulani Bandits on the same Sunday of August 9, 2026, involving passengers travelling in three commercial buses (18-Seater Hummer Bus said to be belonging to Peace Mass Transit with fleet number 2838, 14-Seater Toyota Hiace Bus from the East and Eastern originated Toyota Sienna Car, carrying eight passengers) along Itobe-Achigili-Anyigba Highway located in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State. According to local sources, the first two separate attacks occurred within a two-hour interval on Sunday (August 9) at locations believed to be close to each other, at about 4.pm while the first attack occurred at about 6.pm.

32 Abducted In Another Day Of Thursday, August 13: On Thursday, August 13, 2026, another set of not less than 32 Igbo Land dominated Eastern Christian travelers were abducted by forest occupied Jihadist Fulani Bandits in Ore, Ondo State, involving 18-Seater Eastern originated White Bus traveling to Lagos and another 18-Seater Eastern originated Bus reportedly belonging to Sunny Bright Mass Transit-conveying 14 passengers from Enugu to Abuja; out of which security sources said five were rescued and nine others disappeared into the bush. According to security sources and several media reports including Vanguard Newspaper of August 13, 2026, sixteen Igbo Land originated commuters traveling to the North were rescued on Monday, August 10, 2026. The sixteen rescued victims included Ngozi Stephen (Igbo female) and Joshua Daniel (male Christian).

The abandoned 18-Seater Bus also bore scars of broken glasses and vandalized parts and passengers’ luggage. The sixteen rescued Eastern Christian passengers are believed to be among the estimated 40 abducted on Sunday, August 9, 2026 along the Itobe-Achigili-Anyigba Highway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State. While they were abducted along Itobe-Achigili-Anyigba Highway on Sunday, August 9, sixteen of them were rescued the next day, being August 10 along Anyigba-Ajaokuta Expressway in Kogi State. Photos and videos of the abductions were posted on social media by survivors, local residents and eyewitnesses including the abandoned buses conveying the abducted passengers. In that of Ore in Ondo State, photos and videos showing the abandoned conveying 18-Seater Bus were also displayed including an Igbo girl-child seen shouting for help from local residents to assist in rescuing her father lying helpless at a distance.

30 Rescued Or Escaped And 62 Remained Captive Or Feared Dead: No fewer than 62 of the not less than 92 abducted Eastern bound Christian passengers, most of whom Igbo Land Judeo-Christians, have remained captive or feared dead in the hands of Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen and their allied Jihadist Fulani Bandits in their various forest hideouts-following their abduction within two days of Sunday, August 9 and Thursday, August 13, 2026; out of which only about 30 escaped or rescued and returned safely to their families and legal guardians. In other words, out of no fewer than 20 abducted along Auchi-Okene Federal Highway in Kogi State on Sunday, August 9, nine escaped or were rescued and eleven others remained in captivity. In Benue State, out of 14 passengers abducted along Otukpo-Adoka Road on their way to Abuja, five escaped or were rescued and nine remained in captivity. Seven Most Dangerous Jihadist Abduction Locations Within And Outside Igbo Land: 1. “Fulani Invaded and Occupied or Ceded or Procured Igbo Communal Forests, 2. Fulani Invaded and Occupied or Ceded or Procured Igbo Land Communal Bushes, 3. Fulani Invaded and Occupied or Ceded or Procured Igbo Land Communal Farmland Settlements, 4. Fulani Invaded and Occupied or Ceded or Procured Igbo Land Forests belonging to Ancient Igbo Deities or Oracles, 5. Fulani Invaded and Occupied Non-Igbo Forests, Bushes and Farm Settlements located at Igbo Boundary Areas with Others, 6. Vicinities and areas or communities close to major Military and Police Formations located in the Region-including the Army/Navy/Air Force formations in places like in Owerri, Owerre-Nta, Ogbaru, Oguta, Ohafia, Asaba, Amansea, Abakiliki, Enugu, Awkunanaw and their neighboring Elele, Asaba, Agbor, Ogoja, among others; 7. Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen Occupied Forests and Bushes located within the South-East neighbors and outside others including in Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Kaduna, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue-Taraba routes, Kaduna-Abuja routes and Lagos-Abuja routes, etc., where traveler-South-Easterners are waylaid, abducted and ransomed, or abducted and killed or disappeared untraced.

The jihadist abduction of estimated 92 mostly Igbo Land dominated Judeo-Christian travellers in just two days is also a clear confirmation that Igbo Land Gateway into South-West and North-Central Nigeria has been taken over by Roadway and Forest-way Terror Fulani Jihadists and this must be checkmated by Igbo Land political leaders and reputable associations in Diaspora.
