President John Dramani Mahama is set to make further changes to the leadership of state-owned institutions as part of efforts to strengthen management, improve coordination and enhance performance across the public sector.

The impending changes form part of a broader reorganisation of the government that has already included a ministerial reshuffle and the dissolution of the boards of some state institutions.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, the latest reorganisation is aimed at ensuring that state institutions are appropriately positioned to support the government’s development agenda.

A number of state institutions are expected to be affected by the changes, although the Presidency has yet to officially announce the institutions involved and the individuals who will take over their leadership.

The move comes as the Mahama administration intensifies efforts to streamline government operations, strengthen institutional performance and improve the delivery of public services.

President Mahama has previously emphasised the need for his appointees to demonstrate competence, accountability and commitment to the priorities of his administration.

The latest reshuffle is therefore expected to usher in new leadership at some state institutions while improving coordination between government agencies and the central administration.
