Ibrahim Bukari Baba, popularly known as “Game Changer,” has thanked delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono East Region for electing him as their Regional Chairman and pledged to unite the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking to the media in Techiman in his victory speech, Mr. Bukari Baba said the NPP’s agenda to recapture political power must begin immediately, stressing that the party had neither won nor lost anything yet.

“The agenda to recapture power in 2028 starts from today. Nobody has won anything yet, and nobody has lost anything yet. What is important now is for us to come together and work for victory,” he said.

He said one of his immediate priorities would be to embark on a unity drive to bring all aggrieved members and supporters back into the fold.

According to him, the party cannot successfully return to power if its members remain divided, and therefore called for reconciliation, tolerance and collective commitment among the rank and file.

“I will embark on a unity drive very soon to bring all aggrieved members on board. We need everybody. There is no room for division if we are serious about winning the 2028 elections,” Mr. Bukari Baba stated.

The newly elected chairman also appealed to NPP members to show total magnanimity and give the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the necessary support and space to lead the party’s campaign to regain power.

“We must show total magnanimity and give our flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, the chance to lead us to victory. We must put the interest of the party above our individual interests,” he added.

Ibrahim Bukari Baba was elected Bono East Regional Chairman at the NPP’s regional executive elections held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

He secured 180 votes to defeat his main contender, Thomas Adu Appiah, who polled 73 votes, while one ballot was rejected.

In the First Vice Chairman contest, Alexander Gyan emerged victorious with 149 votes. Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed followed with 92 votes, while Peter Koranteng secured 10 votes. One ballot was rejected.

Mr. Bukari Baba said the outcome of the elections should mark the beginning of a new phase of unity and renewed mobilisation as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
