The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has begun assigning its approved communicators to specific television and radio stations in Kumasi as part of efforts to strengthen coordination and control over the party’s media engagements.

The new arrangement took effect on Monday, September 7, 2026, under the supervision of the Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Officer, Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku.

There is a list of recognised NPP communicators in the Ashanti Region, detailing the various television and radio stations to which they have been assigned.

The document, authored and signed by Dr. Poku, contains the names of the party’s communicators alongside their respective stations.

The party said the policy was intended to bring greater coordination to its communications activities in the region, ensure consistency in messaging, promote discipline among communicators and strengthen the monitoring of media engagements.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, announced the policy several weeks ago, explaining that it was designed to address longstanding challenges within the party’s communications structure.

He said the NPP’s communication efforts in the region had previously suffered from inadequate coordination and control, resulting in individuals appearing on media platforms on their own and speaking in the name of the party.

COKA consequently warned that such practices would no longer be permitted, particularly in Kumasi.

“You can’t just go to a radio and television station in the Ashanti Region, especially in Kumasi, on your own to talk on behalf of the NPP. This will not be tolerated,” he said.

He explained that responsibility for determining who represents the party on media platforms had now been placed with the Regional Communications Officer.

“Now, it is only the Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Officer, Dr. Keskine Owusu Poku, who will assign party communicators to speak for the NPP in the media in Kumasi,” he added.
