Former England international Raheem Sterling is set to appear before a magistrates’ court next month after being charged over a road incident involving his Lamborghini.

The 31-year-old is accused of dangerous driving, possessing nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen.

The charges follow a single-vehicle crash on the southbound M3 near the Minley Interchange in Hampshire on May 28, 2026.

According to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, the incident involved no other vehicles and nobody was injured. Sterling was arrested after the crash and later released on bail while police continued their investigation.

Police had previously investigated concerns that Sterling may have been driving while unfit through drugs.

However, that suspected offence has not formed part of the charges currently brought against him.

The case centres on the circumstances surrounding the collision and the other alleged offences recorded by investigators. Sterling will have the opportunity to respond to the allegations when proceedings begin.

With his court appearance scheduled for September, the legal proceedings will now determine the next stage of the case.

No injuries were reported following the May crash, while the police investigation has resulted in three charges against the footballer.
