‘Ogogo’s’ Family Thanks Fans, Announces 8th-Day Fidau And Artists’ Day
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko has shared a message of appreciation on behalf of the family of late Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following his burial on Monday, August 24, 2026.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Kosoko expressed the family’s profound gratitude to fans, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for their massive turnout, describing it as a reflection of the love and respect they had for the late actor.
The family also announced the remaining burial programmes: an 8th-Day Fidau Prayer will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro, and the family has appealed to friends and colleagues to attend and offer prayers for his peaceful repose.
Additionally, a 40-Day Artists’ Day in honour of Ogogo will be held at the Pavilion Hall in Ilaro, featuring performances by actors, musicians, comedians, and singers to celebrate his life and legacy.
The statement read:
“On behalf of the family of our late colleague, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo HASSAN, a.k.a. Ogogo, I have the mandate of the family to express our profound appreciation to everyone who turned out en masse for his burial on Monday, 24th August 2026. To our numerous fans, friends, colleagues, associates, and well-wishers, your massive presence at the burial was a great demonstration of the love and respect you had for Ogogo while he was alive. We sincerely appreciate every one of you.”
“We may not be able to mention names individually at this time, but Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, knows you all. May Allah reward you abundantly, bless you and your families, and ensure that no calamity comes upon you in your lifetime. We pray that your kindness and support will never go unrewarded.”
“The family also wishes to inform everyone of the remaining programmes to complete the burial rites of our beloved Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo HASSAN, a.k.a. Ogogo.
1. EIGHTH-DAY FIDAU PRAYER: The 8th-day Fidau Prayer will take place on Monday, 31st August 2026, at Ilaro. The family humbly appeals to all friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers to continue to rally around the family during this difficult period. We want you to come en masse to Ilaro so that together, we can offer our prayers for the peaceful repose of our beloved colleague and ask Almighty Allah to grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
2. 40-DAY ARTISTS’ DAY IN HONOUR OF OGOGO: As part of the final activities to honour our late colleague, an Artists’ Day will be held 40 days after his burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.
This will be a special day of performances and entertainment featuring actors, musicians, comedians, singers, and other entertainers, who will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo HASSAN, a.k.a. Ogogo. This is a tradition and a fitting tribute from members of the entertainment industry to one of our great icons, whose contributions to the industry will not be forgotten.”
The Nigerian Voice recalls that ‘Ogogo’, who was battling stage-four cancer, passed away on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the age of 66, according to a statement issued by his colleague, Jide Kosoko.
He was buried on Monday in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, following Islamic rites.
