Ghana forward Mohammed Fuseini has completed a season-long loan move to English Championship side Derby County from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise.

The 24-year-old sealed the switch on transfer deadline day after a proposed move to fellow Championship club Birmingham City collapsed, paving the way for Derby to secure his signature.

Fuseini arrives at Pride Park with the ability to play across the front line and on either wing, offering Derby additional attacking options as they prepare for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Black Stars forward featured in 27 matches in all competitions for Union Saint-Gilloise last season, scoring three goals and gaining valuable experience in the UEFA Champions League, where he faced European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Atalanta.

During his time in Belgium, Fuseini scored 15 goals and played a key role in Union’s recent success, helping the club win both the Belgian Pro League title and the Belgian Cup. His performances also earned him a first call-up to Ghana’s senior national team.

Fuseini began his football journey at Ghana’s renowned Right to Dream Academy before moving to Austria in February 2022 to join Sturm Graz.

He made 27 senior appearances for the Austrian side and was part of the squad that won the Austrian Bundesliga title during the 2023-24 season.

A six-month loan spell with Danish Superliga club Randers followed, where his impressive displays attracted the attention of Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Brussels-based club signed him in 2024, and he quickly established himself as an important member of the squad, enjoying a successful spell that yielded domestic league and cup honours.

Derby will hope Fuseini’s experience of winning titles in both Austria and Belgium can help strengthen their promotion ambitions in the Championship this season.
