Barcelona put on a five-star show at home, seeing off a spirited Rayo Vallecano side 5-2 to maintain their winning start to the LaLiga campaign, despite needing to come from behind after a fast start from the visitors.

Rayo shocked the hosts inside 12 minutes when Sergio Camello converted an assist from Álvaro García, but Barcelona responded almost immediately.

Raphinha levelled matters in the 19th minute with a finish set up by Xavi Espart, and just two minutes later Barcelona were ahead as Florian Lejeune turned the ball into his own net.

The one-goal cushion did not last long into the second half, as Camello grabbed his second of the afternoon in the 51st minute, this time teed up by Unai López, to draw Rayo level again at 2-2.

But Barcelona pulled away for good in the closing stages. Raphinha struck again in the 59th minute, assisted by Anthony Gordon, before Lamine Yamal added a fourth in the 71st minute off a pass from Marc Bernal.

Yamal then completed the rout in stoppage time, finishing off another Bernal assist to make it 5-2. Jules Koundé also thought he had found the net, but his effort was chalked off by VAR in first-half stoppage time.

The numbers told the story of Barcelona’s control, as they dominated possession with 69 percent and completed 583 of their 646 passes, an accuracy of 90 percent.

They also fired off 26 shots to Rayo’s 11, with nine on target compared to the visitors’ four.

Barcelona move on with their perfect record intact, while Rayo will search for answers after a costly defensive collapse.
