President Muhammadu Buhari has terminated the appointment of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero who was appointed two weeks before handing over by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The termination of Alhaji Bayero's appointment is with immediate effect.

Alhaji Bayero sacked

Malam Habibu Abdullahi resistated

He is to hand over the management of the NPA and all government property in his possession to Mr. Habibu Abdullahi who has been reinstated as Managing Director of the NPA by President Buhari.

President Buhari wishes Alhaji Bayero well in his future endeavours.

Abdullahi was sacked from his post as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and has been replaced by Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, the eldest son of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.

It is not clear why Alhaji  Sanusi, a lawyer, from Kano State is sacked and the same person that he replaced, Mallam Habib Abdullahi has been reinstated to his former position. It is obvious that something is not right with the appointment in the first place.

Sanusi, who is the Ciroman Kano and District Head of Gwale, was reported to have been favoured by the former President to take over the Emir’s seat in Kano following the death of his father, Alhaji Ado Bayero. However, the kingmakers chose former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who was at the time at loggerheads with former President Goodluck Jonathan over an allegedly missing oil revenue.

With Sanusi sacking, President Buhari seem to have corrected the wrongful dismissal of Malam Abdullahi.

There could still be more turn and twist in the cleansing exercise of President Buhari on Goodluck Jonathan administration misdeeds.
