NABC"s Africa Works! Innovation in Finance conference held in Amsterdam

A two day conference organized by The Netherlands African Business Council (NABC), in collaboration with FMO, the Dutch Foreign Ministry, The Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) African Studies Center, and CFC was held at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam.

This year’s 3rd edition conference theme was "Innovation in Finance." It provides a unique opportunity for business leaders to engage at the highest levels with Dutch and African government officials, banking executives, Intergovernmental organizations, entrepreneurs and NGOs.

Policy makers, financial sector supervisors and regulators, FinTech companies, academia, as well as different experts discussed opportunities and new challenges in digital finance and to identify how banks can support in this development by financing digital technology and transformation projects.

There were twenty workshops designed for participants on new solutions and developments in the financial sector to enhance new and impactful policies in African countries.

The "Innovative in Finance" conference provided a perfect platform for participants to create awareness and share ideas about innovative and sustainable solutions to promote broad-based economic growth in African countries.

Experts in key financial institutions were able to give statements on the unique trend in financial inclusion sector and how digital finance is accelerating change for customers and institutions, and its different impacts from remittances to microfinance to individual to individual payments.

The Managing Director of NABC, Irene Visser who had earlier welcomed the guests paid tribute to the NABC's partners, exhibitors, speakers, members and participants for sharing a collective vision for Africa's economic growth.

"We share a collective vision of Africa's economic growth, a phenomenon that must be coupled with innovative practices and policies in Finance," she added.

The Netherlands African Business Council is the foremost Dutch Networking organization that facilitates trade and investment in African countries.

It has the largest member network of Dutch companies that are doing business on the continent of Africa. This event and the peer-to-peer learning it provides, is a perfect example of the new sharing economy.

Participants will build on collective awareness and exchange ideas about innovative and sustainable solutions to become part of a catalytic instrument that promotes broad-based economic growth.

African countries and their Dutch partners are trying to advance and adopt digital technologies and business models that will enable companies to have easy access to financial flow, easy access to new markets and understanding their customers’ needs.

The need for responsible and inclusive digital financial services is an integral part of NABC"s Strategy and this year's conference points to the organization’s overwhelming goal to give support towards financial sector development and to assist Small and Medium entrepreneurs to benefit from the effects of digital financial services.
