GAM TV drama series highlight taboos and stigma against people living with HIV/Aids
NO SOCKS NO SHOE, a major drama production put together by GAM Television under the directorship of Mrs. Veronica van de Kamp for SOAIDS to celebrate the World Aids Day on December 2nd at No Limit, Amsterdam was a huge success. The event attracted people from all works of life and it was an occasion to make a public declaration that no stigma any longer for persons living with HIV/Aids.

The evening titled, ‘Meet and greet the stars’ who featured in the five soap series which highlighted the problems still faced in tackling the stigma against people living with HIV/Aids; for instance the taboos and stigma around HIV and bringing it to the front as a discussable subject among people, friends, families and societies.
The occasion according to Mr. Veronica van de Kamp helped people to be more aware of the importance of timely testing and that it is civic right for every person to know his or her status.
The evening feature performances from Eliane Becks Nininahazwe, a woman who is positively living with HIV/Aids and says it is time for people to support the fight against stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV/Aids as the disease does not jump into people or take away the person’s talent. She plays music and dance and she does it very well.

And all the stars who featured in the drama series were available for photo shot with other guests and participants. The event was made possible by SOA Aids Nederland, AIDS Healthcare foundation in collaboration with GAM TV
NO SOCKS NO SHOES is a TV show of 5 episodes that deals with (un)safe sex, relationships, HIV testing, the advantages of knowing your HIV status and being honest with yourself and your loved ones within the community.
Apart from the red carpet reception, there were toast of champagne and good food and drinks to round up the event. A panel discussion with the stars and experts on the subject also had their session and people could ask any question on the subject, it was educative and enlightening to all the audience present.
For those interested, there was also free HIV testing on the spot.
With DJ Cudjoe providing music, and Andrew Makkinga hosting the evening, it was a night to remember for all those who attended. .
